The Mechanic: Resurrection (2016)
The Mechanic: Resurrection is a 2016 American action thriller film directed by Dennis Gansel and written by Philip Shelby and Tony Mosher. It is the sequel to the 2011 film The Mechanic, a remake of the 1972 film. The film follows Arthur Bishop, who has been hiding his death since faking his own death. He is approached by Renee Tran, a courier who knows his true identity. Bishop escapes, eluding her and her mercenaries and fleeing to Thailand.
He takes shelter at Mei’s resort island beach house, where he learns Tran is working for Riah Crain. Later, Gina Thornton, a woman, is beaten by a man on a boat and is rescued by Mei. However, the man’s head hits a bollard, causing his death. Bishop searches for the man’s identity but fails, setting the boat on fire.

Bishop discovers Thornton is connected to Crain, who plans to kidnap her to complete assassination tasks. Thornton reveals that Crain threatened a children’s shelter in Cambodia unless she participated. Bishop and Thornton fall in love, and Crain’s mercenaries abduct them. Bishop aims to complete the assassinations, targeting warlord Krill, Sydney billionaire Adrian Cook, and American arms dealer Max Adams.

Bishop gains Krill’s trust by killing a man who attempts to kill him, and then kills Krill himself. Bishop breaks Cook’s glass bottom with chemicals, causing him to fall to his death. Crain allows Bishop to speak to Thornton, enabling him to identify Crain’s boat. Bishop attempts a rescue attempt, but Crain thwarts it.

Bishop decimates Crain’s mercenaries and rescues Thornton. The boat is rigged with explosives, and Bishop kills the remaining mercenaries and secures Crain to the boat with a metal chain. The bombs explode, killing Crain and Bishop. Thornton is rescued, and the remains of Crain’s boat are salvaged. Thornton returns to Cambodia and is surprised when Bishop returns. Adams discovers Bishop survived by escaping in a watertight anchor chain locker, but destroys the evidence as a token of gratitude for sparing his life and enabling him to monopolize the arms trade.
