🎬 Jack the Giant Slayer (2013)

Jack the Giant Slayer is a 2013 American fantasy adventure film based on the British fairy tales “Jack the Giant Killer” and “Jack and the Beanstalk”. The film follows Jack, an orphaned farmhand, who must rescue a princess from a giant race after opening a gateway to their land in the sky. In the Kingdom of Cloister, monks craft magic beans that grow into a large beanstalk, which reach the realm of Gantua, home to a race of giants. The giants kill the monks and attack the earth below. King Erik uses a magical crown to control the giants and cut down the beanstalk. When Erik dies, his crown and remaining beans are buried with him. Years later, Jack, an orphaned 18-year-old peasant, is sent to sell his horse and cart at market. He encounters disguised Princess Isabel and defends her from an attack. The royal guard takes Isabel back to the castle, but Jack realizes his cart was stolen. Lord Roderick collects the beans and crown, and a monk steals the beans and exchanges them for Anser. The monk flees, pursued by guards.
Isabel sneaks out of the castle and encounters Jack’s door, where rain wets a bean that grows into a massive beanstalk. Jack tries to free Isabel but is knocked away. Brahmwell sends Roderick and other knights up the beanstalk to retrieve her, with Jack volunteering to join. Roderick secretly causes most of the knights’ deaths during the climb.
The group splits up, with Knights Elmont and Crawe taken captive by a giant, and Roderick forces the giants to obey him. Elmont and Crawe are taken to the leader of the giants, Fallon, who orders Isabel and Elmont to be eaten. Roderick takes command and proclaims himself king of the giants, ordering Isabel and Elmont to be eaten.
Jack kills the chef who was to cook Isabel and Elmont, and they flee towards the beanstalk. They find another giant blocking their way, tricking him into falling off the edge. When the giant hits the ground, Brahmwell sees the body and orders the beanstalk cut down. Jack and Isabel climb down the beanstalk while Elmont stays behind to fight Roderick. Fallon takes the crown, claiming the title of king.
The giants are sent back to Gantua and forced to cut down their beanstalks. Brahmwell allows Jack and Isabelle to marry, have twin children, and their story becomes a popular fairy tale. The crown is secretly crafted into St Edward’s Crown, and in the present-day Tower of London, a boy, Roderick’s descendant, gazes at it. Meanwhile, Gantua still exists above London.
