Gremlins 3

The storyline is rumored to continue the dark and twisted tone of the original Gremlins film, focusing on the moral dilemmas of Gizmo and his offspring. Chris Columbus, the director of the original Gremlins films, has been actively working on a script for Gremlins 3. Columbus has expressed that this movie would return to the horror elements of the first Gremlins installment rather than following the comedic tone of Gremlins 2.
Although there is no official release date, sources speculate that Gremlins 3 could be released by late 2025, particularly with the new HBO Max animated series Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai fueling momentum for the franchise’s return. Zach Galligan, who starred as Billy Peltzer in the original films, has indicated his willingness to return to the role. Similarly, Phoebe Cates could return as Kate Beringer, even though her acting career has been limited in recent years. Howie Mandel is expected to reprise his role as the voice of Gizmo.
The proposed storyline of Gremlins 3 reportedly examines themes of moral ambiguity and survival as humans must confront the potential need to eliminate Gizmo to stop the destruction caused by his offspring. Columbus has referred to the script as “twisted and dark,” harking back to the original Gremlins’ edge. The timeline would take place 30 years after Gremlins 2, featuring a mix of old and new characters in a fresh story arc.
Although the project is stuck in development limbo due to financing and rights issues, the passion from both creators and stars remains evident. Fans are hopeful that Gremlins 3 will soon become a reality.
