Bad Boys 5 (2025)

The long-awaited continuation of the Bad Boys franchise kicks into high gear with Will Smith’s Mike Lowrey and Martin Lawrence’s Marcus Burnett returning to the action. This time, the duo faces off against a powerful international crime syndicate that’s pushing the limits of law enforcement. The film takes the pair beyond their usual Miami stomping grounds, with globe-trotting action across several high-octane cities. As the stakes rise, Mike and Marcus must not only deal with the evolving threat but also confront their personal lives, with both grappling with aging, family obligations, and legacy.

Acting
The chemistry between Will Smith and Martin Lawrence is undeniably the heart of the Bad Boys series, and in Bad Boys 5, they still bring that same lovable, bickering banter. Will Smith’s Mike is as cool and confident as ever, while Lawrence’s Marcus shows his growth as a family man, delivering the comic relief in the midst of the chaos. New additions to the cast, including fresh-faced action stars and a formidable antagonist, add layers to the story, though none quite manage to steal the spotlight from the iconic duo.

Action
Expect all the explosive, high-octane sequences that have become a staple of the Bad Boys franchise. From car chases to intense shootouts, Bad Boys 5 never slows down. The action is both thrilling and well-choreographed, maintaining the signature blend of humor and danger. However, some may argue that the spectacle is starting to feel a bit repetitive. Yet, it’s impossible not to get caught up in the fast-paced excitement.

Direction
Directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the dynamic duo behind Bad Boys for Life (2020), this film carries the same modern, stylish flair. The action sequences are tight, with the camera work ensuring the tension never drops. The pacing could have been tighter in places, with some emotional beats taking away from the non-stop thrills, but the film knows exactly when to throw in the next big stunt to keep the energy up.
