Overview:
The thrilling and emotionally charged world of Wind River (2017) returns in Wind River: The Reckoning (2025), a gripping sequel that dives deeper into the harsh, unforgiving landscape of Wyoming and the complex issues of justice on Native American reservations. Taylor Sheridan, the writer/director behind the original film, returns to helm this chilling follow-up that sees the return of Cory Lambert (Jeremy Renner) and Jane Banner (Elizabeth Olsen) as they confront a new, even darker case that tests their resolve, ethics, and their relationships with the people they are trying to protect.

Plot:
A few years after the tragic events of the first film, Cory Lambert (Jeremy Renner), now dealing with the scars of his past, is back working as a tracker for the Wyoming Fish and Game Department. He’s struggling with the emotional toll of his previous investigations, but he’s trying to move on, still haunted by the memories of his daughter’s unsolved death and the woman he couldn’t save.

However, when a young woman’s body is found deep in the isolated, freezing cold of the Wind River reservation, the situation takes a darker turn. The case appears to be another brutal murder, one that mirrors the very case Cory worked on with FBI Agent Jane Banner (Elizabeth Olsen) years earlier. But the new case is different. The victim is connected to a powerful and dangerous group of men with far-reaching influence in the area, and their willingness to do anything to keep their crimes hidden makes this investigation even more perilous.

As Cory and Jane reunite to track down the truth, they find themselves battling not only the violent forces of the reservation’s underworld but also the legal and cultural barriers that make seeking justice in this harsh landscape a nearly impossible feat. As they dig deeper, the case reveals long-buried secrets, and the line between right and wrong becomes increasingly blurred.
