The DC Universe Elseworlds banner is intended to be used as a way to release movies and shows without needing to be linked to the main timeline and universe of the DCU itself. This opens up a host of possibilities for the franchise and ensures that hit series like The Batman can continue in their own cinematic corner.

While it’s unlikely that the original plans for Justice League 2 will receive the green light for Elseworlds exactly as imagined, releases like Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox show that DC isn’t afraid to approach the type of plot the movie would entail. As such, it is still not possible that the launch could emerge in any transformed form later on. Similarly, while Snyder has talked about moving away from the superhero genre, he has also talked about being willing to work with DC again in the future, meaning there is still a slight chance.
