The Walking Dead: Dead City

Set in the world of The Walking Dead, Dead City follows Maggie Greene and Negan Smith as they venture into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan. The once-thriving city has become a desolate, zombie-overrun island, isolated from the mainland. Maggie seeks Negan’s help to rescue her kidnapped son, Hershel, taken by a sinister figure known as “The Croat.” Amid their tumultuous journey, the pair must navigate their dark, intertwined past and the perilous landscape teeming with walkers and hostile survivors. Together, they uncover hidden horrors, face psychological and physical threats, and grapple with their tenuous alliance.

Lauren Cohan reprises her role as Maggie, delivering a compelling performance alongside Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan. Supporting cast members include Gaius Charles as Perlie Armstrong, Željko Ivanek as The Croat, and Mahina Napoleon as Ginny.

Premiering in June 2023 on AMC, the series has been praised for its fresh take on the franchise. While the dynamics between Maggie and Negan dominate the narrative, Dead City offers a mix of suspense, intense action, and emotional depth. The series also nods to its predecessors, providing nostalgic moments for longtime fans.

Although its viewership and exact financial success remain under AMC’s proprietary data, the show has been well-received, boasting a 79% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics commending the gripping performances and engaging storyline.
